What Kind of Gun Would Jesus Own?

By now everyone knows about the Rev. Ken Pagano’s invitation to bring their weapons to church day this past Saturday. Was this a fitting way to celebrate our second amendment right or a misguided marketing ploy?  Everyone has an opinion, but only Pagano, (pastor of New Bethel Church here in Louisville, Ky.) knows the true answer.  

I am not necessarily against responsible gun ownership, but I do take issue with the church member I witnessed on TV (WLKY, I think) asking the question, “What kind of gun would Jesus own?” 

Say what?  

Now I am no Bible scholar, but I do remember Jesus asking Peter to put away his sword when the disciple defended him against the Roman guards. I’m thinking that Jesus would not own a gun.  

This isn’t the first time a pastor has asked for guns. Remember the west end pastor who recently held a gun buy-back day? I’m not sure if his attempt to pull guns out of the hands of thugs worked, but I find the two initiatives an interesting community incongruity.
